Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 June 2026

Kargo Pty Ltd (ABN 33 571 801 367) (“Kargo”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Who we are

Kargo is operated by Kargo Pty Ltd (ABN 33 571 801 367), based in Melbourne, Victoria. You can contact us about privacy at support@kargo.au or by mail at [registered office address], Victoria, Australia.

2. The information we collect

Depending on how you use Kargo, we may collect:

  • Contact & account details — your name, business name, email, phone number and login details.
  • Delivery details — pickup and drop-off addresses, recipient names and contact details, parcel descriptions and delivery instructions.
  • Transaction details — quotes, bookings, invoices and records of your dealings with us. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Usage & device data — tracking events, IP address, device and browser information, and approximate location used to plan and trace deliveries.

We generally do not collect sensitive information. Please don’t send us sensitive information unless we have asked for it.

3. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you (when you request a quote, book a delivery, create an account or contact us), automatically as you use our website and app, and sometimes from third parties — such as the business that arranged a delivery to you, or mapping and address-verification providers.

4. Why we use it

  • To quote, book, complete, track and provide proof of your deliveries.
  • To process payments and issue tax invoices.
  • To provide support, resolve issues and handle claims.
  • To operate, secure and improve our service.
  • To send service updates and — where you have opted in — marketing.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

5. Who we share it with

We share only what is necessary with: our delivery drivers and contractors (to carry out your delivery); the sender or recipient of a delivery (so both sides have visibility); and trusted service providers who help us run Kargo, such as mapping, hosting, payments, communications and analytics providers. We do not sell your personal information. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia (for example, in the United States or the European Union). Where we disclose your information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.

7. Direct marketing

We will only send you marketing where the law allows. Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe option, and you can opt out at any time by contacting support@kargo.au. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

8. Cookies & analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep it working, remember your preferences and understand how it is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

9. Security & retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, tax and transport records), and then take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

10. Accessing & correcting your information

You can ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by emailing support@kargo.au. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first. There is generally no charge to make a request.

11. Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us at support@kargo.au and we will investigate and respond, usually within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

12. Data breaches

If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the OAIC as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the “last updated” date above.
